I know what you mean sometimes it's like fighting and losing the battle, but really every step is a step forward, I am telling you this but sometimes I need to convince myself, only last week I thought I am calm about having to see a new dentist in June after panicing when I first found out.

I felt normal, then WHAM out of nowhere I had a nightmare on Wednesday night about seeing this dentist, I thought where the hell did that come from, I wasn't even thinking about the dentist.

Any way normal service has been resumed for the time being, so it's a constant battle, but while we continue to go, we are wining. It is a journey of ups and downs. The ups are worth the trying and going.

Does this make sense to you, and have I convinced you now?

Yes it makes sense. I will keep on fighting this dental battle if you will!

Going to email DrMike back and actually explain what i'm worried about maybe he will be able to tell me what's likely to happen at the appt then I won't be as worried.

Emailed DrMike last night and he replied in under an hour, I swear that man never sleeps!

Anyway, managed to tell him I was scared of not knowing what would happen. So he gave me a quick run down of what to expect and it sounds ok I think. I know he won't do anything i'm not happy with.

I'm just scared. But it helps that he knows what i'm scared of, I think.

Only 10 more days till the appointment.

Loving all these new smilies...ooh such fun..

Things have been very bad over the last month or so but the last few days things have really picked up and I actually feel happy again.

I have started looking at the needle again (with the cover on!) and just getting used to holding it again in preparation for seeing DrMIke next week. It took me over an hour to even manage to pick it up, I honestly thought I was going to pass out to start with but now am sitting holding it like its the most normal thing in the world!

I told him to expect me to be in a panic and on diazepam but hopefully I won't need anything, Dr Mike gonna be pleased with me I hope.

Well done you are getting back on track and moving forward as well, I am glad that things are turning around for you now. You should be very pleased with yourself.
Stay happy and well, all the best, keep at it.

You know sitting here looking at the needle I have just realised it is really small. I'm quite surprised. Have managed to remove the cap a couple of times now and look more closely at it and actually it's ok.

Maybe because it is the one they use for the wand so it's not attached to a conventional syringe or anything, so it's not as scary. Its just got a plastic tube bit attached to it.
Anyway, enough for one night. Feeling quite pleased with myself now.

Off to bed now. Tired myself out with all this bravery!

Definitely bedtime for me too (see my Off Topic thread! ).

But just wanted to say it sounds like you've done amazingly well! I'm not needle phobic at all, but I don't think I'd ever really want to look at a needle closely, let alone hold one for a prolonged period of time! So I'm very impressed! I can't speak for Dr Mike, but you get an A* from me! Very brave indeed.

And I'm also so pleased to hear you're able to feel a bit happier again.

      Sweet dreams!

Pianimo I've always wanted an A!

I think I needed to look at the needle as in my head I imagine he is trying to stab me with a 6ft sword rather than as it turns out half an inch of extremely thin needle.

I need to practice with him holding it in my mouth now (with the cover on though) so I can see how that is.

I also slept so well last night, no bad dreams at all
