      Default 2 quick questions

      hi
      dental forum

i have a overjet and i have been getting alot of jaw pain recently
and i can hear clicking/crunching noise when i move my jaw around

are these normal symptoms of a overjet ?

also i have had a lot of fillings done to upper and lower teeth
is it still possible to have treatment for the overjet

      ** thanks **

      hi all

well i did see a orthodontist after & i got some good and bad news

i was told that my overjet was 12mm and i would need to have both braces and jaw surgery
they said the surgery would be free on the nhs but the braces probably wouldn't be free

im not sure what to do now - are there any other routes i can go down ?
to see if i can get the braces on the nhs aswell
      ( im over 18 )

      thanks

      Hi readyaimfire
Could it be that the operation would correct it enough to make a difference that you could be happy with. I think your dentist could maybe advise you on this. Could you have it done private and maybe pay in instalments.

I hope you can manage to get sorted out, I would be interested on how you get on if you feel you would like to let us know.

      im not sure carole

      the advice was
      12months of braces
      then jaw sugery
      then more orthodontic work

im waiting to see an oral sugeon - lets hope they can make things more clear for me

It sounds like the brace is a crucial part of the process then from what you have said. I hope when you have spoken to the oral surgeon things are clearer and you can manage to get the work done.

Let us know how you get on please, when do you see the oral surgeon, sorry if you said. Just put it down to my age.

im not 100% sure when i see the surgeon - hopefully this year

      i feel stuck
do i just go ahead and try to pay for the braces privately?
or do i try and get them done on the nhs ?

does the oral surgeon have a say if i can get braces on the nhs?
or is it all down to the
      orthodontist i saw

      thanks
