Aww! That was a wonderful video! Thanks for sharing!!! Yes Carole, just a synopsis, she got her teeth taken care of for free (looks like she may have had crowns or veneers...I don't think they were implants). Then they show the dentist reassuring that she won't feel any pain and then she hugged the dentist when she saw her new teeth and now she wants to become a dentist too!

I share that odd fascination with you Carys! I am always looking up procedures and videos when I'm scheduled for something so I know what's going to happen. I'm much better off knowing all the details and what to expect than having no clue what to anticipate...I watch those medical shows on tv too that show different procedures and medical conditions (both real documentary and scripted dramas).

That video was at my office. The patient had a genetic defect that causes her teeth to rapidly break down to the gum line and are very dark. I was asked by Miami Children's Hospital to see this patient as the dental department thought it was too complex for the residents there. While I got her to look good prior to the start of school by doing extensive bonding she will need implants and a complete reconstruction in 10 years. Meanwhile I will be seeing her about 4 times a year to try and bond "covers" for these teeth buying her time.

Was that you in the video, comfortdentist?! How awesome! I didn't realize you were so close to me. I'm a Florida resident but about 5 hours north of Miami-area on the west coast. Don't worry, I won't be ringing your office for an appointment any time soon as I have my own lovely local dentist BUT if I ever move south I know where to go now!

This is a heartwarming story, and very generous of you comfortdentist!

Regarding the subject of videos, I have an aversion to watching dental procedures, so they make me uncomfortable. I had strongly avoided anything like this for years and now, just force myself to face it when it is needed. I probably would not have watched this of my own accord (though it was more about a little girl's self esteem and a kind dentist ). I do kind of think that watching videos is a good way to experience exposure but having to click a link makes it more within the viewer's control.

      2 cents!

The part with the little girl in the dental chair had my nerves on edge and tears in my eyes, but it was brief so not that bad to watch. It was so nice to see her new smile and confidence! She must think the world of you.

I enjoy medical procedure videos, we had quite a few gruesome and nasty ones in EMT class , my personal favorite is surgery in the abdominal cavity, but I have a love hate relationship with dental procedure videos.

i'm ok with watching animated dental videos, and videos of people recovering after extractions or other work. but i simply CANNOT watch any actual dental work being done! scares the bejeebers out of me, what with my three tooth extractions coming up in less than 36 hours. i hope the iv sedation keeps me sane!
