Thankyou all so very much for your caring thoughts and kind words that at times I seem to need so much of. I do go to a dark place at times and need help coming back. Your support is like water on a barren land, I soak it up and start to flower again! Its 3.30 in the morning here, I am on very strong painkillers to help with my Achilles tendon and they are making me feel sick so I thought I would be better off getting up rather than keeping my partner awake. We are all off to Spain on Friday so I hope my body adjusts to the tablets. I have some news....I went for an Interview for another job today and was successful. I will be Practice and Training Manager for an Alcohol and Drug agency - having responsibility for the training and assessing of Social Work Students who come on placement within the agency. It will be more interesting that what I do now, but less pay because they are a charity. They have satelite agencies that I will have to visit regularly so there will be a fair amount of travel involved. So now I need to write my resignation letter to the University! I am looking forward to going on holiday although I know it will be hard work with the children. Grandad is coming as well and he can take as much looking after as them at times, but its great that he likes to come with us and spend time with his grand kids. I am also looking forward to spending some quality time with Ann, she is such a busy person it feels like we hardly spend any time together. I have been doing a lot of thinking about and looking at my teeth and am convinced the only thing holding some of them on place is tartar (at least thats what I think its called) and when that is cleaned off they will fall out, and once they have further extracted what needs to come out I will have none left or at least I will have so few left it would seem ridiculous to hang on to. This isn't just the fear taliking I think its facing reality and I have to adjust to the idea of full dentures. Its not worth hanging on to just a few, and they certainly wont be near the front which makes it doubly not worth it I think. Now I am worried about taking on a new job given that i might have to have quite a bit of time off if I have full dentures to let everything heal. Do I declare this to my new employers before I start ? Interesting dilemma hmmm

Congratulations, madame on your new job!!!! My advice to you is to be upfront with them regarding your upcoming dental surgery.........tell them it's been in the works for awhile ( I don't think you need to tell them you're getting dentures....dental surgery can mean anything). Usually charities and not-for-profits are a little bit more lenient when it comes to time off from work (I know this because my brother works for a not-for-profit pharmacy organization).
Have fun in Spain, you must send me pictures. Just get in some R&R.......I think you'll feel like a new woman.
My R&R is coming at the end of August......so looking forward to it.......a nice break from doctors and dentists!!
I'll miss you while you're gone, but look forward to hearing all about Spain when you come back!!!

CONGRATULATIONS on your new job. I hope you have a really good holiday as well, just let your mind go blank on the whole dental thing, you need a break from it all, so have lots of fun, fun, and more fun.

Carol -- Congrats on your new job!!! I agree with chickenjen -- best to tell them ahead of time, but you can keep the information you give them very limited. Enjoy your trip to Spain -- I can't wait to hear all about it when you return .

Hi all, wow Spain was HOT. Unfortunately I was really poorly for the first 4 days of the holiday but eventually picked up. We hired a car and tried to see the 'real' Spain a little bit. I am very happy to be home though because holidays are very stressful with a special needs child. My old employer are asking me to stay on 1 day per week until February so I will have 2 jobs for a while. It's now beginning to get closer to my dentist appt and I find myself thinking about it a lot more and really hoping I won't need too much time off work because I am employed to do something that no-one else in the organisation can do and I will feel very guilty, I don't even know if I will have worked there long enough to get sick pay. It's nice to be back on DFC. I have noticed our chef has been formally been promoted.

Your back - well I knew you were back soppy, but I mean on here You have been missed missus!

Your appointment is getting closer, and you seem to be stressing about something that may not need to happen anyway hunni, so try to put all of that to the back of your mind for the time being. You have so many other exciting things to think about at the moment, your new job being just one of them - I am so chuffed for you that you got it, and even more chuffed for you that your current job are keeping you on for a bit more time - think of what you can do with the extra money you get - and make sure one of them is to do something nice for you.

Always here for you hun xx
