Hey everyone, I have a broken molar in the back of my mouth and it usually is just sensitive to hot/cold but in the past 2 days it has gotten extremely sore and painful. it feels like there is a nerve issue? my right side of my face has swollen up and I am scared beyond belief, Could it be an infection or something? what should I do? thanks for your help in advance

Either an Abcesss or a Sinus Infection, which also cause teeth problems. Do you have a gum boil as well?

First off thank you guys so much for answering my post, I dont have a gum boil and I believe if it was a sinus infection then wouldnt it be like a general area in my mouth that would be bothering me? this is just hte one tooth that is sore and tender that just happens to be broken too, I want to believe it is an abscess but i am hoping the infection does not spread. I actually have an appt for tomorrow with the dentist, i havent done any research on him to see if he is a good guy, so I am extremely nervous, i just know he is gonna be critical of me! I just got scared into going to the dentist which i guess is what it takes for some of us :-/

If u have any more advice for me please feel free to give it, and is there any advice on what eat or what not to eat before I go to the dentist? I am not touching any sugars of course.

I don't think the dentist will be critical of you. They probably see these type of things all the time in their practice. If he is you always have the option to go elsewhere. It's pretty easy to get an appointment during a dental emergency.
As for food...maybe some warm clear soup with a straw....or jello. That's what I've been 'eating' for about a week with my dental issues.
Good Luck at the dentist tomorrow.

Hey you're going tomorrow too...so am I.My dentist better not be critical either. It took me 56 yrs.to actually make a voluntary appointment that didn't involve pain of some sort!Best of luck...be thinking of you tomorrow from..."the chair!)

good luck to you puppypusher, i have my appt in 4 hours, terrified, I have been reading up on my symptoms and believe that I do have abscess but I dont have a boil which is weird, I also think that my infection has spread and is in my jawbone as my jaw is stiffening, I just hope it isnt too late or the infection hasnt spread further upwards :-/
