Hi all, I'm new to this site and wanted to ask some advice about an upcoming hospital appointment for an extraction.
I have a partially impacted upper premolar which I have been referred to the oral surgeon for because it may be near a sinus. My dentist was on the verge of taking it out himself and then changed his mind.
I am terrified of having to go to hospital and have either sedation or GA - I would much rather just have a local for it (weird, I know, but I just feel much more in control and at ease with local). My dentist said the extraction will be very easy and quick.
How common is it to just have a local for surgical extractions at hospital? Can I request this?
I don't really understand why the dentist said it is a very easy extraction and yet I need to go to hospital in the first place.Having never been to hospital I have no idea what to expect and I am really nervous over this.
