Help?

I've had the same Dentist for 23 years and thought I'd overcome my phobia. he's retired! I went last week to find I need an extraction and caps replacing on front teeth. I flipped and was as bad as I've been for 20 years. Now my old dentist has agreed to do the caps for me as he's still involved and I'm having something called Diazepam prior to the treatment. Does this work? I'm also going to see a hypno therapist the week before. Will this help?
