Hi there,

I have developed slightly swollen gums above a particular tooth. I have tried just waiting it out to see if it would clear up on its own, but it hasn't really helped. It can be rather uncomfortable when trying to eat. I was wondering if there is something I can do/use to help the slight swelling and redness go?

Many thanks,
Jon

Have you tried an antiseptic mouthwash like Corsodyl? That might help.

After tooth extraction they recommend warm salt water, that might help too as the warmth might help "draw" out anything there but I'm not a dentist so can't be sure.

Good luck!

I had that and it would swell, calm down and swell again. Turned out to be an abscess under the tooth where the swelling was and had to have it extracted. I used to take ibuprofen to reduce the swelling and ease the discomfort.

Sounds like something you need to have checked out.
