Jenny Pinder
BUPA Wellness Dental Centre 36-38 Cornhill, London EC3 Tel: 0207 200 5800 Jenny has been recommended repeatedly by very anxious people, and has been described as has been described as kind and non-judgmental and providing hi-tech dentistry. Behavioural techniques, oral and IV sedation and other relaxation methods are all available, depending on the individual's needs (painless injections come as standard). A very safe bet. -------- "Hi, I'd like to recommend a dentist in London. Her name is Jenny Pinder..she has a web-site http://www.dentistforphobics.co.uk/m...on-phobia.html I hadn't been to the dentist over 30 years and was too terrified to even contemplate it. A few weeks ago I broke a tooth on a toffee and was desperate. I found Jennys name via a random search on the internet (thank god for the web). I went in for an initial consultation and I've now been in three times, including a totally painless extraction and I have a temporary denture. A wonderful woman." --- "I would like to add my "two cents worth" to your dentist reviews. You already have Jenny Pinder listed in your London section, but I would like to further emphasise what a fantastic find this dentist is, and highly recommend that she gets your "Happy Camper Award". I'm an extreme dental phobic, I've been seeing Jenny for 2 years now, she is the only dentist in my life that I have returned to and I needed a hefty treatment plan after years of neglecting to attend the dentist. She is a very warm and friendly woman with a caring demeanor that immediately puts you at ease, she understands phobic patients extremely well and goes out of her way to make sure that a session is as relaxing and pain-free as possible with a variety of psychological and medical aids. Her assistant Sarah also deserves a mention - she's hand picked by Jenny and is also a very kind and considerate person. If I lived on the other side of the world I would travel back to London and see Jenny whenever I needed a dentist. - 10 out of 10." --- "I know she's already been voted right at the top of the London dentists, but I want to add my name to that list. Only had my first consultation after 39 years hiding away from even the word dentist. Got my appointments all made starting next Monday, and though I am still scared stiff and will be having every sort of sedation going, I know that I will be in safe hands. Already recommended her to loads of relatives who aren't even phobics, but she's such a nice lady." June 2008: I'd like to add my recommendation for Jenny Pinder. Having avoided dentists for 30 years due to my phobia, I never believed I'd would be able to get treatment. This woman is an Angel on earth! The kindest, most caring, compassionate and understanding woman I have ever met. Thanks to her, I have been able to complete my treatment. 5 Stars isn't enough for this lady - she deserves at least a hundred! ![]()

I would also like to add my recommendation for Jenny Pinder, having not had any dental treatment since I was a child, over 30 years ago (apart from one attempt in 1989 only to be turned away and told I needed too much work doing). The end of last year the pain just got so bad that I searched the web for some advice and found Jenny Pinder's website. I contacted her a few times by email explaining my situation and finally in March this year I made an appointment and went to see her. I was scared and embarrassed but she was so understanding. Her assistant also needs a mention. Together they make a great team.
If this website could hand out olympic medals for dentists, Jenny should definately get Gold. |

I have to recommend Jenny Pinder and her lovely dental nurse Sarah. These two really helped me to get through my dreaded root canal - Jenny was constantly gentle and calming, and Sarah kept checking that I was ok all the time, and was excellent at reading my body language and how I felt, just from my eyes. They are part of Bupa and have lovely offices.
It wasn't cheap to go to these two, but I couldn't put a price on the way they made me feel. I have two appointments with them in the future, and some non-essential cosmetic surgery that I am going to CHOOSE to do with Jenny and Sarah. They are fantastic. I would like to add my name to the list of people recommending Jenny Pinder and her dental nurse, Sarah. I visited the surgery recently after contacting Jenny by email. She took the time to write back to me, and has done so since. She and Sarah are very warm, caring and patient. They do not try to sell you anything but offer good, common sense dental advice.
The only problem is the fees - you are effectively paying for the rental on a building in a prime, central London location. There is no parking outside so if you have sedation you may need to factor in NCP parking to the overall costs, not forgetting the congestion charge. |

This sounds like exactly the kind of dentist I'm after (and in the right location) but my apologies, but I'm quite clueless about what to do next. I know I need work done because I have two properly rotten teeth, and I'll probably need braces of some kind, and who knows what else - could someone give a clearer example of how much that kind of treatment would be likely to cost me here? I'm not rich, but I'll gladly spend the money - I just need to know how much I might need to raise first...
Similarly, is there any insurance I can get which would apply here? Apologies if I'm asking in the wrong place, but I'm very interested in going to this specific dentist, so I'd love to hear from people with actual experience with her. Many thanks in advance. |

Well done for coming on the site in the first place .The Bupa clinic that Jenny Pinder works from can be found at: http://www.bupa.co.uk/individuals/se...ental-services Jenny's own website, which gives you a really good flavour of who she is and how she approaches things is: http://www.dentistforphobics.co.uk/ I haven't been able to find a price list for treatment, but to give you an idea, I paid just shy of £100 for a longer consultation (recommended if you are nervous) and the xrays were £52. Extractions were quoted at between £100-£200 but mine weren't deemed complicated, so I guess that could be more if it was more involved. My advice to you would be to make an appointment to see Jenny and take it from there. She will give you a a check up at a pace which works for you, take xrays etc and suggest a care programme. You will also receive an estimate of costs and can then decide whether you are able to go ahead with whatever she recommends. Re insurance - no idea, you could always ask when you book to make the appointment. Hope this helps, if not post again. Good luck, whatever you decide. |

Another big recommendation for Jenny and Sarah. I hadn't been to a dentist for over ten years because of some very bad experiences, but during my first consultation immediately decided that I could trust them.
I have since had one extraction under Valium + local anaesthesia followed by one filling under local only. After the extraction in the morning I was able to return to work the same afternoon. Surgery and recovery were almost completely painless. During the extraction I felt some soreness (and it really was quite mild) because the tooth being removed had been very badly infected, but Jenny reassured me that the worst was over at that point, and indeed I didn't feel any discomfort after that. She seems to be a very dextrous and gentle dentist, and I had hardly any swelling or soreness after the surgery. It healed very well and very quickly. My filling was also very untraumatic. I am one of those people whose teeth are hard to numb, but Jenny listened to me closely and used different techniques, not proceeding until I felt absolutely nothing. I never imagined I would choose to go to the dentist of my own free will, but after these positive experiences I am seriously contemplating a dental implant to replace the tooth I had extracted. |
