WHAT does ROFL mean Ruby??? I am 54 years old and not into this jargon please remember I am an old girl

OK today I got my denture back in for the first time in a week, and am pleased to say I look almost normal, That is to say i have not been parading a scarf around my mouth.

I still can't eat very much, but a few pounds of weight loss won't hurt me.

Truth to say it was very sore, but i am getting there, no-one looked at me in a wierd fashion. And i must admit i took a break from them at lunch time, and at 7.00 tonight i was climbing the walls to get them out! so here i am, sporting a gummy smile, but in one piece!
Ronny

and on the wine again

ronny I'm 54 too!!! and can still Roll On The Floor Laughing

How do the implants affect the getting them in and out ronny? I have this fear once I get the dentures they'll get stuck in.

Ruby,

now that the implants are inside my gum, stitches taken out, and the gum has healed over, then there has been no problem getting my denture in or out.

I won't lie and say it is perfect as i am still a bit bruised, but honestley, it is no problem to wear my denture, and as weeks go on, i am confident it will get better. Although it does still feel as tho I've got 2 matchsticks up my nose and it makes me feel sneezy!!!

I still can't eat solids, as i am afraid of banging my upper denture (which is protecting my implants) to my lower teeth, but then.... since April my e-day, I have not eaten solids with my denture in.

If I need a good ole chomp on something, then i go upstairs and eat alone.
But thats just me

Forgot to add,

I had very little bone underneath my nose, i think they call that 1 and 2 position (dunno, i wasn't listening!!!) because my bone shrinkage was so rapid, I only had a matter of months to get the implants in. 7 months to be exact.

My dentist says this is why i THINK i can feel them

Now I know why they call it 'the skin of your teeth'

all the best
Ronny

Thanks ronny

I've not chomped on anything for ages all my food is soft or cut into tiny bits and just swallowed I can imagine trying to chew again is going to be difficult. Got about 8 weeks healing after extractions then the implants heaven knows when I'll actually get the teeth lol But to tell the truth I just can't imagine myself with teeth anyway it's going to be so weird!

Don't go anywhere ronny I'll probably have tons of implant questions a bit nearer the time.

just an up date for me really,

my dentist phoned me yesterday to make an appointment with me to see if the implants have bonded- i have to go on feb 4th. i thought it would be much longer, timewise than this...

from then on, it's all about exposing the implants, putting the healing caps on and then attaching the bar,and then new teeth... oh hell fire i think this might hurt!!

why am i getting so shakey now? is it because the end to these bloody awful dentures is in sight???

Have i grown to rely on them no, i HATE HATE HATE them.!!!!!
Whats wrong with me?
I am being put back to normal-ish and i am fearing it.
And no, i haven't been on the wine, ruby and celle, just thinking out aloud

ROFL ok ronnie if you say you haven't been on the wine....
I believe you hic!

If I read right you had your implants Nov and it's Feb before you go and then how long for teeth? Am wondering cos I have jury service in May I deferred once already can't defer again so I *have* to do it. I was hoping I'd have the teeth by then but implants aren't going in till end of Jan.... might be cutting it fine.

I think it's absolutely understanable to get a bit shakey at "big" events in the teeth saga's. I sure do anways. Even when they were horrible and I was ashamed of them it was better the devil I knew... and even now with no teeth it's preferable to the thought of the implant thing and I'm terrified of a mouth full of plastic! It's the unknown element and for me the ever constant "but what if!!!" fairy that sits on my shoulder.

But it'll be fine you've done the really hard stuff and the most painful I would hope Now it's time to go get those Cowells

ruby
