Hello,
I went to the endodontist regarding a crown I had done a week ago. after taking a scan and X-rays he told me the crown was fine but the root canal next to it needed to be re treated because of an abscess that was under the roots. This is a 10 year old root canal and I have no symptoms at all. I would have never known! Im skeptical because of the absents of symptoms. How urgent is re treatment if symptoms are not present? I want to wait until my insurance rolls over in January. The cost is $1,500! The anxiety of having to do this is keeping me up at night. I included an image.X0060103.jpeg

Doesn't look urgent so can easily wait till next year. Usual caveats apply, just because it's fine now doesn't mean it'll definitely be fine till next year, but it's not likely to be an issue.
It definitely should be redone though, sooner or later it's going to flare up.

I'm curious why you went to an endodontist about a new crown?

Thanks so much for your response . I was passed on to the Endo by my dentist because I was having pain in the area where the temporary crown was placed. She thought I was having a root issue when in fact it was the loose temporary crown she placed on wrong. I am not happy with my dentist! She should off seen me first before handing me off. I am glad the root canal doesn't look so urgent. I am so nervous about the procedure but I am also concerned about the infection.
