So my root canal seems ok to me so far, the only problem I had was after it was done I felt like I was leaning towards my right though maybe this was due to me having an ear problem but after sleeping it off I was ok again.
Now I'm about to have my very first crown. It's a 1 hour 30 minute appointment with the crown all down on the same day. Maybe it seems not much for some but I'm feeling very nervous now and getting scared. I know I will have to get a crown since most of the tooth is filling now but I'm still feeling panicky about it! Having a long appointment doesn't help as I guess like everyone else I want to run out of the dental seat as soon as possible!
I'm looking for any support and words of wisdom and encouragement.

@Little tiger Hi, well done on the root canal. I have sat through a few of those and it's no easy feat, so you should be proud of yourself for that..

Hopefully sitting through a long root canal treatment will give you the strength to go into this next treatment feeling ready.

And indeed, I have also had crowns done (including bridge work) and they are a lot easier than root canal treatment. I think if you handled the root canal you can handle anything! Root canal is difficult.

@smirked Thank you! I was lucky my root canal was finished so much quicker than I thought, it took about half an hour. It'll be a long time as the crown is being made on the same day for me but I trying to tell myself that it'll be finally the end of it all once this crown is on so I can stop feeling so scared soon!

@Little tiger I'm certain that you will do just fine. Just do a little reading on crows and the process of fitting them so you know what to expect.

In essense, they will shave the tooth down a bit to round it off and make it nice and even. Then adhesive will be applied and the crown will be pressed on top.

If you have sensitive teeth they advise that the adhesive can be uncomfortable.

@smirked Thank you that's good to know! I'm guessing I'll need to be a bit careful with the crown for about 1-2 days but I'll be glad when it's all over. My appointment is tomorrow but I think I'll feel proud of myself for getting myself through all of it!

@Little tiger Yes they'll probably advise you to chew on the opposite side for a few days.

Good luck for tomorrow!

@smirked I managed to survive! My upper tooth had to be shaved a bit unfortunately, the things they use tastes awful but it all seemed to went ok. I don't like the dental drill with the feeling of it going against my teeth and the smell really gets to me. I seem to panic when I smell that kind of burn smell which I did when I had a deep filling. Still the dentist is nice which helps me feel more at ease, he must be amused how much of a scaredy cat I am!
I didn't get any aftercare advice but I'll keep chewing on the opposite side for a few days. Thank you for the support!

You're welcome. I'm glad everything went well for you today. Some of the smells and tastes at a dental visit are quite unpleasant, I agree with you there! You will be able to relax now the work is done.

@Little tiger there shouldn’t be any need to be careful with eating if this is the permanent crown 😊. You can eat normally as soon as the numbing has worn off. Congratulations!!!

@letsconnect I feel a little sore still (not enough for a painkiller though!) so I'll see how it is in the morning. I'm just worrying now if the bite is ok. I got it tested a lot but I don't feel right having my bite checked tilted in a chair rather than sitting up right. I'm just hoping it'll feel right later, when I first had a filling it felt off for a time then I got used to it so maybe it's the same thing! I read so many different things on Google it's quite confusing!

It’s quite common for the crown to need adjusting so don’t hesitate to go back (I went back twice if that’s of any comfort, and Gordon who also needed a new crown recently also had to have it adjusted so you’re not the only one!). If your bite doesn’t feel right or if there are any sharp edges, do go back u til it feels comfortable (sometimes it does need a little time to adjust to but if it’s totally off don’t hesitate to go back - a fraction of a millimetre can make a huge difference because our mouths are so sensitive!).

@letsconnect That's good to know about that - thank you! I'll see how it goes tomorrow as I'm just bit sore still, my jaw got tired keeping it open for quite a time and the gum below that tooth and the back got hit once so I had a sharp pain and my mouth is a bit sensitive as it so I'll see how it is after 24 hours. Thank you for advice again it's very helpful!

Just a small update. My crown seems to feel much better so I guess it was something to do with my jaw being sore or just the gums. I can bite down on it ok so huge relief! This tooth problem caused years of panic and stress so it's feels amazing it's finally sorted out. My only regret is not finding this new dentist a lot earlier!

That's great news :thumbsup!: !! Thanks for the update!
