After a year of a swollen gum and face I have finally had my tooth extracted today should be a day of celebration but due to my anxiety I'm worried as my swollen bits of my gum from the abscess keeps throbbing

And I'm kinda scared and paranoid what's left of the infection will spread and kill me or go into my blood or something?

I prob am being silly but I'm generally worried

did they put you on antibiotics or give you anything for pain? It is totally normal to have some pain and even throbbing today. What's left of the infection should clear up by itself now that the source of it has been removed. The tooth was a source of food for bacteria that caused your infection. you should start feeling better very soon.
If they gave you nothing for pain you can take over the counter ibuprofen

Congrats! That pain is horrendus. I think I'm beginning to get an infection. I had one before that required antibiotics. My rotten teeth are still there (for now, have pre assessment next week for extraction).

After you had it done, did you think to yourself "What was the fuss all about?".

Just a side note, my dentist wouldn't do any work until the infection was gone, but it wasn't that bad. If you've had antibiotics post extraction then it'll go away. Otherwise just pop your dentist a call and ask them. You'll be fine though.

A celebration is in order :p

Remember that pain is not always the most accurate sign for infection. If you get a fever, phone a professional asap, but some tenderness and throbbing could just be your gums recovering.

Thanks everyone and yeah it was a relief and weight of my shoulders to have that tooth out but my infection is kinda strange in a few ways I had it infected for so long that my gum had and still does have large hard swelling and isn't filled with pus it's just blood and really hard skin?

I had antibiotics a few times for it but nothing shifted the actual hard swelling which lead me to face my dental phobia as antibiotics wasn't helping it only helped remove any pus pockets on the gum not the hard swelling?

they had no choice but to take the tooth out even if it was infected because the hard swelling won't go until tooth is gone I guess?

And right now I still feel sore and tender which is expected but no white stuff over the hole yet and still hard swelling on my gum

I'm not sure the word of what the hard swelling is but it does cause worry and panic but I didn't really have a choice but to have it pulled in its current state
