On Tuesday I got an emergency appointment as one of my front teeth were sore along with the gum and I work up as soon as the ibrophren wore off. Got an emergency appointment informed it was an abscess and were given 2 options kill the nerve than a root cannal at a later date or extratction.

I went with kill the nerve, The numbing injections were painful and I had to ask for more pain killer during the proccess which hurt like mad. I was told I would have some discomfort for the next couple of days but Ibrophren would take vare off it.
Well Wednesday night I went to bed early and was awake every hour and a half / two hours in pain. This morning I noticed the side of my face is slightly swollen and where the injection was made swelling on the inside of my mouth and my chin is sore. Actually my chin feels like there is pus in it like a pimple and squeezing is so tempting.

Im waiting on the dentist to call back with hopefully an appointment this afternoon but she did say I was worned there would be some pain to which my response was Yes but its worse than the first time I saw the dentist. I do feel I might be put off until Tuesday as my 6 monthly check up is then but my own dentist knows due to my hatrid of the dentist surgery that I only contact them unless Im in pain

As a side note approx 12 onths ago a had an extraction of a top back tooth due to an absecces and basiclly the pain killers used to numb the tooth had some but not a lot of effect, The resulting outcome was when the tooth was extracted it hurt enough so much it took me several minutes to get my breath back.

Which is why even though its a tiny erroded front tooth with the pain Im currently in Im expecting to will be bad if I go down that road.

Or do I just need to man up.

I think this may be why some dentists prefer to treat an abscess with antibiotics and painkillers first and then to fix or extract the tooth once the infection has been brought under control. Dental anaesthetics might not properly numb an infected and swollen area and so immediate drilling or extraction will be painful.

Update,
Saw my own dentist who injected anestetic into my gum, exactaly where it hurt the most, he had 3 gos at rying to numb with no effect saw I was in a lot of discomfort and said I will just have to go into the tooth and reflush and hopefully get most of the pus out. Which wasnt too bad, Gave me two lots of antibiotics and was in extreeme pain for the next 12 hours but a hot water bottle helped. Now 48 hours later a little sornes and still fill a little numb where I was injected but painkillers have moved to a if necessery and I got a ful nights sleep.
Seeing the dentist on Tuesday for my 6 monthly check up so while discover what the plan is then. This was by far the worst pain Ive been in. I have had mutiple root canels and recently had vaneers fitted for my top front teeth. My teeth suffer from heavy wear.
