Hi Everyone,

I was, and still am terrified of dentists..I had to have top teeth removed, I had no choice..I was physically sick for days before my appointment. i was terrified to take all the antibiotics before visit..I was sure I would die.
I was terrified to wait in chair, even though i had been in it before. Even though the dentist was the same one I had for the impressions.
He explained every single thing. I was ready! Shots don't bother me, funny everything else does, but i had my gums all numb. Dentist said; "Im going to push on each tooth, you tell me if you feel pain or pressure!"
I said ok, felt pressure and in 30 seconds all 9 teeth were out!!!! I didn't even know it.
I had no swelling, I had no pain, at all, I could eat, although I ate soft food, i managed a cookie. Had to keep plate in 24 hours. I went to dentist and the pain was undiscribable when plate was removed. My sockets were fine, my gums were ripped on both sides. Plate had been made with front that looked like a hugh crab claw on each side. OH THE PAIN :scared: Returned twice and now, afraid to go back for another problem:redface: It will be third day in a row. I am afraid I will get yelled at! Dr. removed some of the "claws and explained that my bone from front teeth are hugh. He is hoping now that teeth are gone the bone will get smaller. He had word for it. Anyway, I need more adjusting. My plate is moving all over, I'm biting my cheek, cutting my gums, and I'm afraid to go again. respetionist isn't Ms. Smiley, I know she will yell. The dentist might yell! Please tell me, is it ok to go everyday till you don't have sores? Should I wait a day? has anyone here gone 3 days in a row?
Thank you in advance for any help. i was going first thing in morning, but I have talked myself out of it. Maybe i got screamed at by a dentist and started this fear? Who knows. Thanks cathln

Hello,
You have every right to go in to see the dentist every day if thats what it takes to get your plate to fit well and not rub and cause sores! Don't let the receptionist intimidate you! You are the customer and they are always right:) If you need encouragement you can take a friend or family member to give you support...I hope you get everything adjusted and fitting properly..

As long as the dentist is not shouting at you, don't be put off by the receptionist, she should know better

It is all part of the treatment, maybe ask the dentist what is usual to feel in the circumstances, but I think the fact that you are biting yourself and they are loose is reason enough to go back to the dentist.

Let us know how you get on. Congratulations on getting it done :jump::jump::jump::jump::jump: and well done you :cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer::cheer::cheer::butterfly:

It is a worrying and scary thing to deal with the extractions and the aftermath, dentists may well do the extractions all the time but we don't and we need our minds putting to rest and confirmation that all is normal and doing well :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::butterfly:
