So after taking my wisdom teeth out the oral surgeon prescribed amoxicillin for me to take.. I have read sooo many horror stories with it but i know i should take it. Has anyone taken amoxicillin and had a good experience with it with no side effects??? Seriously bugging out every time i take it!

Hello I have just joined this forum n saw your post.

I am currently on Amoxixillin and have no problems at all with it.

In fact, I have never had any trouble with penicillin apart from sometimes feeling a bit tired - although I think this is result of the action of it.:)

I've taken Amoxicillin quite a few times over the past few years and I've never had a bad experience with it. Some antibiotics can occasionally cause a bit of an upset stomach in a few people, so I find it helps if you have something to eat before you take the antibiotics.

Try not to worry - the unpleasant side effects that *could* happen are only mentioned in the medication leaflets because the drug companies are legally obliged to tell you all the possible side effects including everything from a minor side effect such as an upset stomach or feeling a bit sick (which is easily sorted out), right through to severe allergies and all sorts of other things. In reality, very few people experience anything significant at all - but the drug companies have to warn you just in case.

Also, if you read stories on the Internet, or listen to other people's stories about taking antibiotics, they only tend to tell their story when things have been less than perfect. You don't usually get to hear the stories of the vast majority of people who've taken antibiotics and who've been just fine.

The very minor possibility of experiencing side effects is usually far outweighed by the benefit of taking the antibiotics to get rid of the infection :) .
