Hi
I’m age 50 & never smoked . I have severe anxiety about losing teeth & fear of the dentist from childhood treatment. I go to check ups but am fearful to ask questions and go to 6 monthly hygienist appointments and use an electric brush and interdental sticks. Since my last check up 2 months ago (scores of 2 in lower front teeth and mainly 1s elsewhere ), I have a constant mild ache at the gumline for the past 4 weeks and a little more recession . When I registered at dentist 6 years ago, she said I had some bone loss but I didn’t ask how much. She didn’t seem that worried but I was. I think it may be in my head but there is ? very slight movement . I haven’t had an xray ever over this area. I’m not sure what to do about the mild ache and mainly the severe fear about how long it will be til I lose teeth . What do you think is best- any research to say anything else would help or reduce rate recession/ bone loss ? I tend not to want to bother health professionals as feel I am making a fuss but it’s affecting my sleep and causing so much fear.
Many thanks for your advice,
Rachel

1) Teeth are designed to move a little bit in the socket, it's normal and not an issue.
2) For a 50 year old there is very little recession
3) The mild ache may be hormonal changes, it's not unusual, a sort of burning feeling is quite common
4) The only thing that stops bone loss is removing plaque, which from the photos you're doing fine
5) You don't look likely to lose your teeth ever. Please stop worrying about it.

Thank you very much for such a speedy detailed reply. It’s very kind of you to give your precious time .
