anyone had extraction site re opened and cleaned ? any experiences ?

6 weeks ago had an upper molar extracted ( root canaled 17 years ago ) and still have pain and off, gums feel puffy (they feel puffy, but they are not actually swollen ).The extraction went well, didn't have dry socket. The OS wants to re open the site to clean it out. Any experiences with that ? pain healing time, etc. Thank you !

hi, im due to have that done in hospital, my previous dentist rather nicely left some root in the gum which was confirmed earlier this week. i can't say im looking forward to it!!

all the hospital dentist said was to expect my mouth to be swollen.

Good luck to you too ! anybody with experience, please let us know what to expect . I will have it with only local anesthesia , they said it takes 15-20 minutes. My x rays don't show anything ( no infection, no bone fragment ) but they don't know why I still have pain on and off and why I have this gum puffiness. I don't look forward to it either !!!

sorry, i was in such a foul mood earlier about finding out i had some root left in i forgot to add a couple of things. as mine has root in it they said it would take around half hour, so open it up, clean it out and stitch it up, they have offered me sedation but i don't think il have that, just have the normal injection in the mouth apparantly its really simple!! but either way, its something that we both don't need!

yes I am on some other sites too, but I don't know which site you are referring to , because I didn't get any answers about this on other site either
