The closer the time for my appointment gets, the more excuses I'm coming up with to cancel it.

Its the numbing that has me very scared. The last few times I was numbed I had really bad heart palpitations, which really scares me. Is it possible to get work done without being numbed and just getting the gel put on. I know that it is going to be painful, but I'd rather deal with pain then heart palpitations. (I had a baby natural cause the epidural didn't work, so the pain doesn't scare me one bit, just cause I know the pain won't last forever.)

Don't give up on yourself now, Melly. You can do this heroic thing and you can do it today.
I just got back from my 8am appt. Had a molar extracted, three permanent crowns put in and an eye tooth bonded. Stopped the nitrous after the extraction, had plenty of novocain (the shots only "tingle", so just don't look!) and am home after 3.5 hours. Don't subject yourself to unnecessary pain.
You deserve a life with no regrets, and you would eventually regret cancelling today.
Stay brave and imagine this evening when you can say "I did it!"
Best wishes.

Once the dentist puts that gel on and leaves it to work for a bit, the Novacaine injection should be painless. The dentist should take the time to inject the Novacaine slowly so then all you would feel is a bit of discomfort (maybe) but not pain.
You really should give it a try before deciding to go on without Novacaine.
All the best,

Please don't cancel!

By attending your appointment you won't just be slaying the beast, but you will also come out of it feeling so liberated and happy!

Try focusing on a phrase or concept that you can repeat to yourself. For me, it is simply "fixed teeth" - the idea of walking out of that surgery with a fixed sense of teeth and a new lightness in my step.

You can do it. One tiny step at a time! :)

Hi

If you are sensitive to the Epi in the local you can request a non-Epi local like carbocaine. This will do a nice job numbing the area so you can have the work done pain free. The non-Epi local will not produce the heart palpitations.

This is used with pregnant women and people that are a bit sensitive to Epi. Every dentist office should have this on hand. You can request it without problems.

Blessings :D
