Are Upper 2nd Molars Truly Needed?

Anyone missing their top 2nd molars? Can you still chew/function fine? I know it's good to always keep first molars, which I always will, but wondering about 2nd molars. I've had root canals/crowns on molars and just gameplanning for the future if need be.....
 
Hi!

It really depends on how your teeth are positioned in your mouth. If your upper second molar directly touch the bottom ones, then extracting these might cause discomfort when chewing and possibly other dental issues. Hope that helps!
