as the title says, i haven’t been to the dentist in 5 years. i was held down and forced to have cavities filled without anything being explained to me as a child and ive been terrified ever since.

i did make an appointment for the dentist back in september, just for a consultation. i went and had x-rays done. i was told i have 5 cavities, but nothing else. this dentist refused to give me laughing gas for having the cavities filled, so i found a new one.

i think i have periodontal disease, i have gum recession on one tooth. i have a really good oral hygiene routine, brush 2-3 times a day, floss every night and occasionally ill use a water pick.

i’m extremely concerned im going to lose my teeth. besides that one tooth, i do not have any visible recession. however, my teeth sometimes seem to be slightly loose and pop. this terrifies me. i have 2 teeth that have been loose and pop for multiple days in a row, which previously they would only be loose for maybe an hour and return to normal.

this new dentist has me in the books for MARCH right now. they haven’t even seen me for a consultation. i’m on the cancellation list but i have been for over a month now. i’m terrified one of my loose teeth WILL fall out before then.

my teeth need work cosmetically also. i’m super insecure about how they look. i need braces and my bottom teeth are very chipped and jagged so i will need some kind of work done on those.

this process is going to be super difficult for me and i worry every single day that my teeth will fall out.
