It has been 4 weeks and 3 days since I got two fillings, and the terrible taste in my mouth is growing. Has anybody else had anything like this? If so, did it get better? I had two deep fillings on 4/18. I had a composite filling on tooth 13 and a glass ionomer on tooth 14, which already had a crown on it. At first, the taste was bitter and metallic, but also an unpleasant citrus-like taste where my tongue touched the filling on 14. During the first couple of weeks, I could pull my tongue away from the teeth and the taste would lessen or go away. Now it's just my whole mouth and all the time. I'm getting scared that I'm allergic or intolerant to the materials. The dentist who placed them said that it couldn't have anything to do with the fillings or the appointment. My tongue is also burning (I have had burning mouth syndrome on and off over the years so that's not entirely new, but is back with this). I have more work to do and now I'm just a wreck. I don't do root canals for multiple reasons. The fillings were both very deep, and I don't see how they could take more drilling to remove the fillings and place new different materials. I'm scared I'm going to lose one or both of them. I don't even know where to go from here, but I'm hitting a breaking point anxiety-wise. It feels like a punch in the gut to push so hard to face this fear and I can't even be relieved that I accomplished anything. I'm in a worse situation than when I went in. I'm also scared that if I'm allergic, that the exposure to the materials will continue to make the symptoms worse until I asphyxiate. Has anybody experienced anything even remotely like this?
