Braces with severe overbite

I got my braces on yesterday and so I am still sore. But since I have such a severe overbite, on each side on one tooth (third from the back) they had to put this composite stuff on there (forgive me, I can't remember the orthodontic term) so my top teeth do not force my lower braces off. He had to put quite a bit on my teeth and I am having difficulty chewing... I sometimes feel myself chewing weird and tapping my bottom braces with my upper teeth.... oh and I was also told I have a slight crossbite in the back as well.

Will my chewing get better as I get use to these composite things in my mouth? He said they will wear down after time...

I'm not an orthodontist but I'd guess that things will feel better in a day or two.

Thank you!..I obviously can't count, but it's actually the 2nd molar from the back.
