Hello to all, I am a new member and even typing my message is making me feel nervous!
My bridge has been in for 15 years. Been having issues with the front tooth which is holding the bridge and my dentist said there is a pocket of infection above it and the bridge needs removing and replacing with a partial temporary denture. It is a 4 tooth bridge (two top front teeth and 1 tooth either side of them. One front tooth was removed 15ys ago hence the bridge). Over the years the teeth have moved and the bridge is old anyway. I cannot afford implants.
The dentist said that I will not really like the partial immediate denture and that it will keep moving. Not a great start and I am very anxious about having this done anyway!! It will be nhs. Would it make any difference if I asked her for a private temporary partial denture or are they made the same? I am very worried about it moving around, especially with it being 3 front teeth! SO anxious!! She said I would have this for around 4mths until new denture made.

You'd be wasting your money paying for a private denture. Save the money for the best permanent one you can get. Having said that, the immediate partial really shouldn't be that bad, I think your dentist is maybe trying to manage your expectations a wee bit.

@Gordon Thank you for your prompt reply!
I have visions of the denture falling down or moving about when I am talking. What would be the best adhesive to use while it is in place for the 4 months (I thought it muld need to be in longer than that). I will save my money for the permanent one..thank you! Never had teeth out before by being numbed. Always had sedation. Dreading it!!!

Ask your dentist if they have a few free samples (we usually have plenty) and see how you get on, different folks like different ones.

Try to NOT use any for a wee while first though, most dentures don't need them and they are a bit yucky in your mouth TBH.

Thank you for your advice Gordon. Most appreciated.
