My daughter had an amalgam filling in one of her upper near back molars a couple of weeks ago. The filling looks huge and covers all of the chewing surface of the tooth. She is still getting sensitivity to cold liquids. Do you think she should go back to her dentist yet, or give it a bit longer to settle? Thanks for any opinions.

Hi,

Your daughter can eat just fine but simply has sensitivity to cold, correct? It depends on how deep the filling was and everything but some sensitivity is normal, especially when there was a lot of decay. I myself recently had two deep fillings and I have sensitivity to cold. It's totally normal if that's all it is.

hope this helps.
