Hi, everyone, I am due to have my two bottom first and second molars surgically extracted Monday morning. Saturday morning I wake up and ta da! There is a new cold sore (first time this has ever happened before a dental appointment).

Will this prevent them working on me? I have it covered in Carmex and will keep it so. It is not festered, just a tingly bump right now.

I plan to call them Monday morning but sometimes they do not answer. Should I just go in anyway or would that be a bad idea? If I simply do not go in and cannot get ahold of them before my appointment time, I might get charged for an office visit even if I cannot show up.

Any ideas if anyone has worked with this or had this come up so I know what to do and expect.

Thanks!

Cold Sore Extractions Update

Fortunately, Dr. Newton got the message at his emergency number and it is okay to get teeth extracted if you have a cold sore with the caution that stretching the mouth might irritate it more which I can live with.

My main concern was infecting others at the office but he said that that would not happen as they take appropriate precautions.

Tomorrow I get these two bad boys out. Woohoo!

Thanks for reading.
