Someone please help .....my pain started in January with a decayed wisdom tooth being filled, then pulled..Soon after a molar with a root canal(with crown) was infected and pulled(it was a very old root canal)...I've had 2 upper wisdom teeth pulled in February(the oral surgeon agreed they needed to be pulled). Now my bottom teeth feel alot of pressure and last night one of my old root canaled teeth started hurting badly , enough where I had to take pain meds and something to help me sleep..I woke up with the pain and called my dentist..He said I couldnt possibly have a tooth ache and that no one has as many teeth aches as me..He said he was relieving himself from being my dentist and didn't want to get in the middle of my problems..He told me to go see a specialist...I was so upset I was crying...I don't know what to do? I'm lost..and in pain..The pain is real but no one will believe me..I can't keep taking pain meds every day....What can I do? Any help will be very appreciated...I have an appoinment with the oral surgeon at 11 am but he cant pull teeth unless I have a referral)

You could probably get your nasty dentist 'for patient abandonment'. I suspect however he does not know what is wrong and is afraid of still having no clue if he were to try to help (doesn't make it right though).
Since you can likely survive fine without wisdom teeth, they probably did need to go. The fact that you now have an issue with a second root canalled tooth, i think it would be best to see an endodontist for pain evaluation (rather than an oral surgeon) since endos are not 'pull happy'.

The tooth may just need an rct re-treat to save it, let's hope so. Other things you need to rule our before pulling yet another tooth is nerve issues. An endodontist is your best bet and is where I would go although I am fairly sure my dentist wouldn't behave in the dismissive way your dentist has done. So sorry on your behalf.

Hi lillyh :hug::hug: has your dentist x rayed your mouth?

Don't give up find somewhere else and don't give up until you have your pain cured. I had a dentist tell me for 20 months that there was nothing wrong with my teeth. I found another dentist and after having one tooth out and a rct my pain was cured. The tooth I had removed broke because the nothing that was wrong was an abscess the infection had spread to the next tooth and that is why I had the rct.

If you are being woken up at night with pain it is real. I also think enough time has passed that the extraction sites should not be giving you this much pain.

The pain is real, you are feeling it. I hope things go well with the os you see today. I know you will let us know how you get on. Keep going until you get an answer.

Good luck to you :hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

thank you Carole!
I asked the dentist if an infection can spred from tooth to tooth and he said no...Because that is what I was thinking too...My insurance is maxed out and I have no money out of pocket...I do have a new dentist who has xrayed my teeth but said there is no decay or infection..But when I had the xrays taken I had been on augmentin for my sinusitis(which the dentist said would only affect my upper teeth)..So I guess I live with it for awhile...Very depressing...I would think that my old dentist woul have at least been big enough to say that he was at a loss, didn't know how to proceed and referr me to someone else instead of making me feel horrible...I too am losing faith in dentists...:cry:I'm sure there are things that do not show up on xrays?

Don't lose faith in dentists in general for everyone that is rubbish there are loads more that are good and care. After my neglectful dentist I got a very good one that got me out of pain. He then left and I have had a couple of adventures since then but as things stand now I am seeing two very good dentists.

Keep the faith  don't give up :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::butterfly:

They say life is a roller coaster, take the ups with the downs. This dental stuff will work out. I really hope you get sorted soon. Do you know what next, who do you see next.

Not sure yet..My next appointment is in three weeks for a scaling/cleaning, then my partial...So I will see how my teeth feel..That is all i can do since the cleaning is 200.00....All the money i have left...:cry:thanks for talking to me~!!!

You are welcome. It is so hard when a dentist turns or when we feel in the hopeless situation you find yourself in. Except you are not hopeless, you have done so well in dealing with all this so far. Hopefully your mouth might settle down, but if it doesn't get back out there and find a dentist that will be able to help you.

I am going to stick with this new dentist until I have my teeth cleaned and my partial done..If after that my teeth still bother me and he just thinks I'm crazy, I'll look elsewhere for my care...i just hate bouncing from dentist to dentist because they don't seem to like that! I googled "my teeth bottom teeth hurt all the time-no decay" and I was surprised that I am not the only one who seems to have this weird problem...So I don't feel so bad..It is just that none of these people have found out what is the cause even after going to all kinds of specialists...I know I'm a teeth grinder and I have a bad bite(which my old dentist tried to fix) so maybe I have fractured some of my teeth below the gum line...Would that cause pain? Otherwise I don't know..My cousin is having the same problem with finding a good dentist..He has gone to two different ones in the past 2 months..Seems we share the bad teeth gene! LOL... I will hang in there...Also could a root canal tooth on the upper mouth be bad and causing all my teeth to hurt? When my new dentist xrayed my teeth I had been on all kinds of antibiotics so maybe it wasn't infected at the time? Now I'm not on antibiotics now so it will probably start acting up! Then the dentist will REALLY think I'm crazy...:grin:I'm just guessing at cures!!

Well I went to my new dentist and told him I was tired of my teeth hurting . So he called the Oral surgeon and talked..I had an appoinment to get 2 root canaled/crowned teeth out along with a wisdom tooth with an old filling... Well the two root canaled teeth had infections in them (which is why I kept getting pins and needles pain into my ear and face) one tooth had a broken root, the other was decayed under the filling and broke when extracted...Now All three of us are happy with my teeth now..All I have to do is heal..At least they both listened to me and did what I asked..To find out what was wrong....

Perhaps you could ask them to forward the relevant section of your notes to the other jobsworth dentist who just dismissed you as his patient. Might educate himself by reading it. :hmm: Glad you are sorted.

Brit,
That is exactly what my mom and husband said to do! Right now I'm glad he dismissed me like he did because then I had to go to the new dentist who actually listened to me and actually referred me to someone who helped me..I'm just so happy to have gotten rid of those teeth that were painful...Then I will get my teeth cleaned and my partial...So it turned out okay...But karma will get him LOL:evil:

Excuse my language but what an @sshole! Definitely find a new dentist, someone who WILL take the time to figure out what is wrong so he/she can help you.
I'm not sure where you're located in MN (I am in the Twin Cities) but I had a great visit with a fabulous dentist yesterday and will be more than willing to give you his information.

Yes those are my sentiments towards my old dentist exactly! Oh well...I'm in southwestern Minnesota just 30 minutes from Sioux Falls..My husband is from Inver Grove Heights and his mom lives in Maplewood...! So It may be a little far to drive but then a good dentists is probably worth the drive....Please pm me with his name if you want..And thank you!
