Hi
I have posted before about my dreadful dental year last year. Today was my 6 month check-up following the bad experiences last year. I don't need any fillings BUT I am due to see the specialist again next week as it will be 6 months since she did my root canal treatment on my premolar tooth. Last time she said I was borderline needing a crown. That didn't worry me as I have a white crown on a broken tooth at the bottom and had no problems.
However, my dentist says he will need to see my x-ray before deciding on what crown I can have because he has to drill more tooth away if it's a white one on metal. The tooth is not broken but they say it has a big filling, a big space in the middle. He said his only option might be a full metal crown which I didn't even know existed as I thought crowns were white. So I got upset because NO WAY am I walking around with a big metal tooth right in the corner of my smile that everyone can see. I have never seen anyone else walking around like this and the idea is ludicrous. I'd be a laughing stock.
Please help - what else can I do? Can I pay private and get some other type of crown?
I don't understand how my bottom tooth broke and I got a white crown on that (on NHS). This one isn't even broken and he's saying I might not be able to get a white one?
Now my dental worries are starting again just as I thought I'd got rid of them.
Also, my gums got a score 2 and a 3 in one place. How do I make the 3 into a 2?
Thanks,
Mo.
