I’ve had three lots of crowns fitted over my lifetime. Aged 19, 36 and now at 62. I had kidney disease as a child in the 1960’s, was weaned on Tetracycline and have had two lots of major surgery. The by product of all this was the need for crowns in 1981.
I looked after them. Each set of 6 x upper lasted way longer than predicted. My last lot were done 2 months ago. I’ve been back and forth having adjustments and am now at my wits end. They’re painful, horribly sensitive, bleed when I floss, my bite is still off and I’ve absolutely no idea what the problem is. I don’t know why this has happened. Aged 19, they were all porcelain, needed minimal bite adjustment and lasted til age 36. Next set were PFM, again requiring a little adjustment but were insitu for 26yrs. I’ve no idea what to do. The treatment was not undertaken lightly, was necessary and I was prescribed Diazepam to get through it.
What can have gone wrong? What can I do? I’m terrified of the dentist and have gone through all this to be in pain and discomfort, have developed a lisp and inability to eat ordinary foods I ate before.
I feel quite desperate and very very upset.
