Why do dental medical forms ask if you have done steroids in previous years?

When we are under stress eg certain dental procedures, the body produces natural corticosteroids to help with our response to that stress. If people have been taking steroid regularly or recently reduced/ ceased usage, the body’s capability to produce natural corticosteroids can be reduced. Therefore it can occasionally be helpful to arrange for what is called ‘steroid cover’ to account for this for certain procedures.
To be honest it’s very rarely required but that’s the main reason why it’s mentioned there.
