Dentist not using fluoride on adults?

All my life at my cleaning they would give me a fluoride treatment at the end, I recently went to a new dentist and they didn't give me one, at the end I asked why and they said they only give it to kids (I am 23). Why wouldn't a adult need one?

so does that mean there is no point in using a daily fluoride mouthwash or a toothpaste with fluoride ?

This is so wrong.
Topical fluoride has a benefit of reducing susceptibility to dental . The bacteria doesn't know how old the teeth are.
The reason fluoride isn't used on most adults is that insurance won't pay after a certain age. I often recommend it for elderly patients who are suffering from root caries.
