Dentists here or anyone with knowledge, re do fillings?

Okay so i know im asking another question and it may be stupid but i need some reassurance. I know i should believe my dentist, heck she knows more than i do right, but i am a little confused about this. My front teeth look awful. I know i had all of them filled with white filling like 15 years ago. I had alot of decay on the back of them and in the crevices between them. Now for the last 5 years theese teeth look bad. They look decayed to me. I can see some dark showing through from the back of the teeth and the crevices look decayed too. My dentist says they a decayed. This seems crazy to me. They sure look decayed to me. She said it is just my old fillings have discolored. Discolored to black in some areas? Seems weird. Is this true? She wants to take out old filling and put new ones in. Is this gonna set off more problems? Look root canals and stuff? I have had two rrot canals in the last 3 months and can't handle anymore of this. Help.

It is possible for old white fillings to become discoloured and stained so this could be the blackness you can see.
I would say if they have been in for fifteen years you should replace them, not only will they look a lot better if you leave them until there is decay under them then you do risk them turning to rootcanal if the decay gets to deep.

liscol is right - composite fillings slowly absorb water and become grey. If they are leaking then you will get further problems so if your dentist has diagnosed leakage then do get the fillings changed.

Thank you. She didn't say anything about leakage but of course i wonder. Well i guess i better listen to her and just get them redone. This sucks.

15 years is a long life for large old composites. You will get micro leakage
