Just curious..for those who have upper and lower dentures..about how long did it take for you to feel like you were speaking clearly? I'm on day five and am still battling my tongue. :-[ Sometimes I feel I don't sound bad..but other times I can't talk worth a darn.

Also..how long before you felt comfortable chewing? Goodness, this is such a new sensation. I stick something in my mouth and totally lose it. I've had to stick my finger in my mouth to track something down. Right now I feel like I'll never enjoy food again. [smiley=ashamed.gif]

Yes, I go through periods of being terribly depressed. I just keep praying this gets better.........

I felt like I was talking better after about 7-10 days, my husband said he noticed I got better each day but as the evening went on and I got tired my speech started to slur.

The chewing was somewhere between week 2 and 3 although my 2 very front teeth are my own which helped. It is a very odd sensation but fades after time.

I am just coming up to 4 weeks and am now eating everything I was before and more :-[. The weight is piling on and I am even eating sweets I haven't eaten for years. Thing like chops take a bit more doing so haven't attempted things like that yet but burgers, chips, chicken, sanwiches etc don't stand a chance! lol

The first few weeks really are awful [smiley=hugging.gif][smiley=hugging.gif][smiley=hugging.gif]

Oh Chrissie..THANK-YOU! You've given me hope that I won't starve to death! :giggle: I would give anything for a big slice of pizza right now. Guess that will give me something to look forward to. i do love to eat and am really missing it right now!

Went out to my Mom's home this morning for about an hour and we talked and talked. She said she can understand me fine..but you know how mother's are. ;) She told me to say nursery rhymes..that's how she learned to speak with her dentures. So my poor dog has been hearing Hickory, Dickory Dock and Mary Had A Little Lamb a lot today. :giggle: I've also started speaking out loud everything as I type it online. Feeling determined today!! (At least at the moment...)
