I'm new to this forum, but I am in desperate need of an extraction due to an infection in my broken lower left molar that won't go away. Because of my paralyzing fear, I've been avoiding medical care, and instead taking antibiotics that I've been sourcing myself (and yes, I know that's a very bad thing to do). I made an attempt to see an oral surgeon last week, but he was not kind of sensitive to my fears, so I left.
Does anyone know of an oral surgeon around the Pittsburgh area who is genuinely kind and caring? I'll even drive an hour of necessary.
I feel ridiculous about this because I'm a 44 year old man who makes sure my family all gets their needed dental care while I'm too terrified to go myself. I've managed to avoid any dental appointments for 30 years due to my terror of everything having to do with someone slicing up the inside of my mouth. I'm terrified of all doctors actually, and so far I've been lucky enough to never have any health problem before this. But now I'm desperate, and I really need to find an oral surgeon who will be very patient and kind with me.
I'd really appreciate any referrals. Thank you.
