My new fillings look and feel like cement. And both of my teeth have taken on a grey color from them. Dentists of the forum are these normal fillings?

Hi,
You had Amalgam fillings. If I have to choose whether to have an Amalgam or a white filling in my mouth, I would choose the Amalgam.
The main disadvantage of the Amalgam is its color, and if these teeth are visible, it might be an aesthetic issue and thus an indication to replace it, but this aesthetic question is purely subjective and for you to decide.
Other than that, these fillings don't look polished. I would go back to the dentist and ask to have them polished. You should not pay for such a treatment because a filling in the mouth has to be smooth.

Agree with Dr Daniel these are normal amalgam fillings. They could certainly do with a polish.

Thanks! I was quite surprised when they didn't have a foil look to them.

They change colour slightly as they "mature", fresh amalgams look just like those.
