Following on from my other thread and about the same tooth... I'm struggling to cope with still having problems despite the old filling and underlying decay being removed and a new filling put in 8 weeks ago. The new filling had a sharp overhang which was causing redness and swelling to the gum. Another dentist managed to get in with the tiniest of instruments and take the edge off.

Long story short, the gum is still a bit sore from the procedure and subsequent infection but getting better I think. However I again have the original symptoms I was having when there was decay under the first filling. Weird tingling discomfort up the root filled tooth and numbness in lip and nose tip that comes and goes. This is caused by an inflammatory response I believe and if I take ibuprofen for a day it does ease. So here is the latest x-ray taken a few days ago. Does it look ok? That's never decay again around the filling, on the root side? The dentist said it was ok but unfortunately I have trust issues now following all my troubles with the previous dentist.

If not decay then what could be causing the sensations I'm having? I could cope with having more work done if it solved the problem but I couldn't face more drilling if I ended up still with this discomfort and numbness.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Decay on this tooth won't cause any symptoms at all. FWIW I can't see any on this x-ray though.
The root filling looks OK, I don't see any issues with it at the moment.

I'd give it a bit longer and see what happens when things have had a chance to settle down.

Thanks Gordon. That's very reassuring, I'll try to relax and leave it to settle down.
