Electric shock sensation from anesthetic shot

I just had two lower teeth extracted (the second tooth behind the eye tooth and a molar almost all the way back). The numbing shots went all right, except when I got one of the shots it felt like electric shocks or like sparks hitting my chin and under my lower lip. What could cause this? (The extractions went very well, and I felt no pain, and very little pain after the anesthetic wore off.) I’m just puzzled about the electric shock sensation, because it never happened before and it really scared me. :o

The dentist has contacted the nerve bundle with the needle. It's uncommon but not that rare. Never does any lasting damage and usually the local works better because it's nearer to the nerve bundle.
