Extraction of a tooth with a crown

getting an abscessed tooth with a previously failed root canal extracted/bone graftt done on wed, it has a crown on it already, does this change the actual extraction procedure, is the crown removed first or do they just extract like a normal tooth, trying to learn as much as possible about the process so I know what to expect.

No. Extraction like any other tooth. Sometimes the porcelain cracks/crumbles during the extraction, which makes a weird sound for the patient, but it's not a problem. Occasionally the crown will pop off during the extraction, again no big deal.
