Hello, I'm a very anxious patient due to childhood trauma at the dentist and also a rare endocrine condition that creates various difficulties affecting muscles and nerves, and hypocalcaemia. I have to have adrenalin free injections but usually have all work done without injections. it's the very real affect on me of the injections that I fear most. I have a broken tooth (not much protruding) which has been fine for about ten years but suddenly blew up with pain. The dentist x rayed it and said there was an early infection, prescribed antibiotics and booked an extraction for Thursday. 3 days in I have developed a swollen face and, I think, sinusitis. The pain is now over half my face while the tooth itself is less painful. My question is will I need to delay the extraction and if not what are the risks? I also have high blood pressure. Thank you.

The biggest risk is that the local will be less effective if there is a lot of pus around the tooth. How high is your BP? Assuming it's being managed then it doesn't matter.
Best let the dentist have a look at it on Thursday and take it from there.

HI gordon. Thanks for replying. Ok that's useful to know. 177/87 just now. Its not being managed yet except by me as far as I can. Is that a concern? Yes, he says he will go ahead but has given me more antibiotics

No, 177/87 is fine. My personal cut off for treatment was diastolic over 100, you're not that high really.

Just to let you know I had two adrenalin free injections. The numbing was fine and the tooth was removed in about 2 minutes! All healing well. Massive relief!!

Great news, thank you for the update. :thankyou:
