I’m having 5 teeth extracted at once - I don’t know when yet as I’ve not booked anything - but I was wondering if people could tell me how they’ve found multiple extractions at the same time? They’re all back teeth thankfully so I’m hoping it won’t be dreadfully noticeable once they’re out but I’m dreading the procedure. I’ve never had a tooth pulled before, I’ve had a couple of fillings and a root canal but never needed anything else done. I’ve also got a filling booked for next week and I think it’s going to turn into two because I’ve been getting v bad toothache the other side of my mouth recently and I can see the cavity. So I’m terrified about that too even though I’ve had them done before. But it’s the extractions that I’m most worried about - I know the teeth need to come out but I’m only 26 and it makes me feel like crap to know I’ve neglected things this much? But one of them is literally crumbling and causing a lot of pain so it’s gotta be done.

Hello rachwrites

Unfortunately I've had half my teeth extracted over the course of the past decade because of periodontal gum disease. The most they pulled at once was 5 teeth but those were in the front.

For me the actual surgery is mostly painless. The post-extraction recovery time is the hard part because of the gum soreness.

Can I ask why your dentist wants to pull 4 of your teeth? Is there no way they can be saved?

@matt2012 I think the worst part is knowing that it’s a molar on each 1/4 (plus another one on the bottom left) so it’s going to be my entire mouth that’s numb/painful after? And there’s nothing else that can be done with them which sucks but I understand why that’s the case now which helps a bit I think. Thankfully my dentist is really understanding but I’m still bricking it and I’ve not even booked in the appointment yet. I think I just need to get through next weeks one first and then psych myself up to booking in the extractions 😬
