What did you end up doing? Did you pull it out? Did it work successfully? I am having a similar issueHi all , I thought i would share my on going saga .. I have eye pain which feels like a burning /stinging / pressing sensation in (only) my right eye which started around 2010 , I initially went to the GP thinking a thorn or branch may have scratched or gone in my eye as i had been doing some forestry work a few weeks before , but i didn't recall anything significant at the time .
I was sent to the eye infirmary everything checked out ok , but i was given drops for mild dry eye which did nothing for the discomfort i had in my eye .
I kept going back to the GP as it was getting no better , eventually in 2011 i paid to see a neurologist privately and he could see nothing wrong , I did mention to them around 6 months prior to the symptoms starting that i got hit in the eyebrow by a log i was chopping and thought it may have been something to do with that as it does feel tingly when its touched and remains swollen there to this day .
The neurologists i have seen dont think it is anything to do with it though.
I kept returning to the GP as there was something definitely wrong , eventually he sent me to neurologist who did some tests and asked for a ct scan which showed no problems , over the next few years , im not sure of the dates as the appointments were so far apart i lost track !!
I had another CT (they lost the first one ) an MRI and an MRA which all showed to be clear .
They gave me all sorts of tablets to take , Pregabalin ,gabapentin , and a few others which i cant remember the names of , none of them helped , they just kept saying double the dose on most of them !! . it got to the point where i was walking around work bumping into things they were making me feel as though i was drunk !! .
In one of the neurology appointments i had they mentioned one of my tooth roots looked close to a nerve so i changed to a private dentist and had a few fillings done , he couldn't see any problems on the xray but i said one of my teeth, the top right molar (2nd one in) had a bit of a strange taste to it , it already had a filling but not painful , I asked him to look at that tooth considering the eye problem on that side , he took the filling out and said i needed a root canal and crown which was done , this was approximately 3 years ago every time i go for a check up i say i do get the odd pain in that tooth but he says it is fine ,
i had the last neurology appointment 5 months ago and am currently taking lamotrigine which is not helping at all .
Over the last 12-18 months my vision has deteriorated in just my right eye but left eye is near perfect (according to the opthamologists) and the eye pain is getting worse , also when i floss around the tooth i get a bad taste and it seems to aggravate the eye pain , i had a dentist check up 2 weeks ago , he did another x ray and said the tooth is fine ,
I have made an appointment with another dentist this monday and praying they find something wrong with the tooth as its been nearly 8 years this has been going on and getting steadily worse .....
PS The only thing which has helped was when the dentist did the local anesthetic before the root canal and also i had a nerve block injection in my eyebrow near where i got hit by the log , they gave me a local anesthetic before the main injection , but as soon as the local wore off the pain was back as before ..
sorry for the long post ..
