Fear of Anesthesia

Hi, I need a complete upper denture which will require extraction of 12 teeth. My dentist has recommended "being put to sleep." I requested dental assistant take notes during the consultation, so I have that in writing. I am fearful of general anesthesia since I am underweight with a BMI of 17.1 currently and am losing sleep over this advice. Are my fears rational or irrational? Thanks.

If you don't want to have the treatment done this way, then say so, nobody can force it on you. You can request IV sedation, Inhalation sedation or local alone.

Underweight is less of a problem with GA than overweight.
