Hi. I'm due to have a tooth extracted in February and this may seem seem weird, but as a sufferer of social anxiety, my biggest worry is how my mouth will look afterwards as I leave the surgery: bloody and with a fixed grimace due to the local anaesthetic perhaps??? The thought of me walking along the road looking like this is filling me with dread. Even if I wore a scarf over my mouth, I'd still feel horribly self-conscious.
Can anyone offer any reassurance?!!

It's pretty unlikely that you'll be kicked out of the surgery until the bleeding is completely stopped, so there's no reason for you to be "bloody", local doesn't actually stop your muscles moving, it just feels that way because of the altered sensation, so you should look pretty normal to the casual viewer.

Thanks. That's reassuring.
