Hi all,
I posted on here a few weeks ago regarding my phobia of going to the dentist. I had neglected my oral health massively, had an extreme amount of Tatar on the bottom of my teeth (back and front, back was so bad it was like a brick behind my teeth)
After weeks of searching for an NHS dentist and having no luck I decided to go private whilst I still had the nerve to do so.
Yesterday I finally went to my appointment, I was terrified, the dentist was absolutely amazing & lovely, I could have not hoped for a better person, I apologised profusely for the state my teeth were in and she told me that she was there to help me get my smile back and not to judge me. I sat in the chair shaking like a leaf, she was gentle, understanding and talked me through everything so I could understand.
She then got in the dental hygienist who said we were now best friends and she got me in for my sonic clean today (not going to lie I was shocked and still terrified).
I have been today, my X-rays show minimal bone loss which both the hygienist & dentist were shocked at, I need 2 fillings at a later date and I’ve had a full clean.. I cannot tell you how much better I feel, all the Tatar has gone, my teeth are surprisingly strong and they feel so clean, when she showed me the before and after I burst into tears, it’s like a weights been lifted.
I hope at least one person finds comfort in my positive story, the biggest step is booking that appointment.
You CAN do it
