Well..

Tomorrow is the day, going to my first actual root canal retreat with an endodontist. All the other times.. years prior I would go to the consult and never go back. just didn't like the thought of going to someone I didn't know and I was very picky.. Well. The last year has been a real time of growing in my dental journey and my dentist has really been awesome and I've come to trust him so much. When he told me I needed these 2 root canal redo..well I wasn't thrilled but.. I trust him 100% and knew he had my total best interest in mind.

I searched all the endodontic reviews in the area and came up with basically two choices that had great reviews and the one I picked had a few from nervous patients that I really thought was good

a few reviews included

I was so nervous going into this appt as I've had very bad dental experience over the years. Dr A is the best and I would highly recommend him for root canal therapy. He was able to rebuild my confidence in dentistry in one visit. Thank you!
Thank you so much - appreciated the time that you took to explain the procedure to me and also the care that both you and your assistant provided. I was a very nervous patient going in but was kept very comfortable and pain-free throughout. I will definitely recommend this clinic.

I spoke with my dentist who encouraged me to communicate my needs like having topical and slow delivery of the anesthetic and doing some nitrious to help me relax.

The people in the office were really nice and helpful on the phone so these are all really great signs to me. Looking forward to a new positive experience with an endodontist. I'll let you all know tomorrow how it goes.. :). Been a while since I"ve had a root canal.

Soooo..

Just back from the endodontist.

Happy to report it was a really good trip.. I have now found my Endodontist!

Always scared to go to a specialist I didn't know and have work done.. This experience was tops.. The guys reviews were great especially a few from nervous patients, the gals on the phone and in the office were friendly and extra helpful and reassuring both on phone and in person. I put my fears out on the table immediately with the endo and he addressed me on everyone and reassured me of the process and that he was truly concerned for me and my comfort during the procedure. The shots were pretty good.. the first I could feel a little but not the next two except a slight pinch on the palatal one but nothing bad at all. Honestly. I alsmost could have fallen asleep. He had alot of extra tools and found a canal the previous dentist years ago that did it missed. The worst part about it was the xrays,, due to my gag reflux but he was very patient in the process . The assistant was great and so kind and just reassuring the whole way.

What an awesome experience,, this is just the first of 2 but I really don't mind going back and will not be scared for my next retreat or any further root canals!!

Phew!!

Glad your re-treatment of root canals turned out well. I'm having a root canal by a dentist on Nov. 7th- abit anxious about it as i've only had one before 3 years ago. How long did one root canal take? did you have a molar done? I'm worried how long it is going to actually take, my last one i was in the chair for 1 1/2 hours, start to finish and am having 3 canals done. I hope it's less but i'm sure he's allowing time as i'm a new patient and said i'm nervous/may need a break in between, depending how it goes.

Congrats on getting it done, it takes courage but sure feels glad to be done on the other side. I wish mine was earlier but the dentist i'm seeing is very busy and was lucky they found a date next month for me instead of mid-dec.:(

Nutzforcats,

I so know how it is to wait... glad they could do yours in November instead of December though! Mine took an hour and a half for the retreat. The worst part was the xrays.. I really have a strong gag reflux, we had to try several times . I think he took like 2 before a few in the middle and a few at the end it seems.. if I remember. I just remember really trying to focus on my breathing.. Mine was #14. so close to the back.

I hope yours goes as smooth as mine did :) I hope they will take time and give you plenty of needed breaks too. I got a few like 2 min breaks just to rest my jaw . I did hear. "open more please" several times.

Keep us up to date for sure..soon you will also be on the other side and I love your name nutsforcats.. Do you have cats? :)

Bravo!

Such courage. Well done. Enjoy!

Thanks, just hope i can get through it, i find the xrays hard, too, as i have a small mouth and keeping my mouth open wide enough so they can work. Just want to get it over and done with but glad it's not this week as i've come down with a cold so should be okay by the 7th.
