Hello, I recently went to the dentist to get x-rays only since I am very nervous. While I was there he said my wisdom top right needed extraction, I asked why he said he didn't know unless he did an exam. Since I only have sensitivity and a grey spot I left and am seeking a second opinion. I recently after years 20+ have started flossing (I have tight teeth was terrified I'd pop out a tooth when flossing) so now, I floss several times a day up to 8 times. I never have blood when I floss any of my teeth, but I must TMI here, the floss is stinky when I floss the upper wisdom tooth and pre molar, like bad breath when you wake in the morning. I have only been flossing that area regularly for a couple of weeks now. I have never in my life ever had bad breath aside from a Olive Garden meal, and I can taste my bad breath. What is going on here? Can you ease my mind a little since I am going crazy trying to figure this out.

You've probably got a bit of gum disease round the wisdom tooth, hard to be sure without looking. The bacteria excrete some unpleasant chemicals which smell a bit yuck. Keep working on the area and it should improve in time.

Flossing 8 times a day is total overkill though, once is fine. Also try using interproximal brushes like TePe, they can be easier to use.

@Gordon Thank you so much for the reply, it helped ease some anxiety. I am using a water flosser now to. I will ease up on the flossing. Thank you again sooo much!!!!
