So I'm feeling really low after having full mouth extraction last week, I can't look at my face without them...I look so OLD šŸ˜”
And now struggling with mostly the bottom dentures, I know that these are the hardest and have read anything and everything for help and advise...I just keep crying about it all šŸ˜”

Oh Iā€™m sorry youā€™re going through this. Iā€™m replying because I know I would feel exactly the same way as you.

Can I ask how old you are and why you came to the decision to do this? I assume it was the only option?

Not that it makes it any easier, Iā€™m just trying to think of what could help - to focus in on the positives as you move forward.

My mum struggled with her dentures for months, and said yes it was a horrible time, however sheā€™s had them over 20 years and everything has been great with them since that initial ā€œwearing inā€ period.

Her dentist recently suggested a new set and she said nope, Iā€™m not going through that again. My dentures are absolutely fine and work perfectly well so Iā€™m not changing anything.

I suppose Iā€™m just trying to reassure you that this time will pass Iā€™m wishing you all the best during this challenging period.

Aw thank you so much for your reply x
I have been the denture forum queen over the last week and have found so much advice and hope for the future so feeling a little better about things. Trying my hardest to look past the present...and be positive x
Thank you again

Hi @pickles75, can you share with us which denture forums youā€™ve found particularly helpful? Things keep changing so rapidly that itā€™s hard to keep up and it would be great to know which forums are helpful these days.

Many thanks and so glad youā€™re feeling a bit more hopeful šŸ¤—

To be honest I have just been searching for any problems I have and going from there...this one has been most helpful I must admit though.
I am just getting for my first day back at work ..at a till and not really looking forward to it but must stay positive !!! Let me know if I can help on any way...this is hard stuff to go through and no one really tells you about the after bits xx

Thanks for your reply @pickles75 ! There used to be a really good support group called "Dentures - a new smile" some years ago, but it got bought up by some commercial website and I think they turned it into a facebook group. So I'm always keen to hear which forums might be helpful for people who are new to dentures! If you come across any that you can recommend, do let me know šŸ˜Š.

All the best for tomorrow, hope things go ok for you!

As you've probably been told, when you first get new dentures you will definitely need adjustments, so if there are any sore spots or other problems, do go back to your dentist to have them adjusted - this is expected and normal.
