GA/Sedation - Wisdom Removal

Firstly a big thanks for the kind dentists/specialists who I can see take much of their own precious time to try and elay peoples fears here.

I am 35 and have had just been told I need one of my lower wisdoms removed which is partially impacted. It has been half in half out so to speak for a good 8 years and is apparently now affecting the adjacent molar. Truth is I have dreaded it for years but have always known I was almost on borrowed time as far as keeping it was concerned. However a few questions if I may:

1) I must confess to being very apprehensive about a general anaesthetic. I have been sedated before for a molar removal (next to my lower wisdom on the other side) and had no problems. Will it be cast in stone that I need a GA? Almost the full crown of the wisdom in question is in my mouth although it is horizontal. My dentist did warn me however that it was big with long roots. If I'm honest I will be masiveley relieved if the Specialist says he can do it under Sedation. Is this ever possible?

2) My other (Left) lower wisdom which he hasn't mentioned had just about broken the skin about two years ago but has since stopped growing. Whilst this tooth now has no molar next to it part of me thinks it is only a matter of time before it would become infected (food trapped in the little hole in my gum) and should it not be taken out as well now? My dentist hasn't even mentioned this tooth although he was surprised it hadn't erupted since the molar was removed 2 years ago. Will the specialist tell me if he thinks that one needs to come out as well? As much as I'm dreading this, surely better to have them both done once rather than delaying one to a few years down the line?

3) I have had my top two wisdoms out and in my mouth without any problems for possibly 12 - 15 years. I do hear though that although I've only been referred for one - they may end up all coming out - is this true? if so I'm a bit dissapointed my dentist has never mentioned it.

4) Is it true that the removal can almost be done as a day case now? I'm sure me wife years ago was in overnight.

5) I have obviously read about the possible complications but my biggest worry is regarding hearing problems. I have had tinnitus for a good 6 years or so now - not pleasent especially at night and in truth it has taken me a long time to learn to ignore it. I have read somewhere that wisdom surgery can cause this and similar problems. Is this true and does anyone have any idea of the risks?

Thanking you very much in advance for any time taken to respond to this.

P.S. My wife considers me a big soft baby having had all four of hers removed under GA and I have to say having witnessed my daughters problematic birth, I am acutely aware of ladies incredible ability to shame me into to feeling pretty pathetic. But alas my fears are growing and in truth it is getting me down any help/advice or re assurance would be very very gratefully recieved.

Phew, so many questions ;D
A lot of this has been covered in other threads, so let's make this brief...
1) It's possible but it may not be pleasant for you. This sounds like a difficult extraction. Discuss it with the surgeon?
2) If it's not causing problems, leave it alone
3) See above
4) Yes. Mostly day surgery now.
5) Very very rare. I've never seen it, but I've heard it can happen.
