Has anyone ever had general anaesthetic for a wisdom tooth extraction? I've been referred to the hospital after a failed extraction and my dentist said they would probably have to make a cut in my gum and a bit of the bone. This obviously has me thinking that I will need to be knocked out or I'll never be able to get it done, but I don't know if it's usual to be put under for something like this.

Mine were impacted and I just had the gas. It really wasn't too big of a deal. My husband was knocked out. I think both are common. I was too old. I was 25 I think, so they didn't want to put me under. Mine was a tricky extraction, and it healed just fine. Try not to worry. :)
