Hi everyone, I have finally mustered up the courage to book an appointment to remove my teeth due to pain and orthodontic work. My pain has been primarily in my jaw that it has radiated to behind my eye. This is what had me wanting to start my treatment asap if it is an TMJ issue since I have crooked teeth and a really bad wisdom tooth. Tomorrow I will be having one decayed wisdom tooth removed and two premolars on my left side. I will be having my other premolars removed on my right side Wednesday. I am posting because I need support of any kind, I’m very scared since I will be only getting the numbing injections since I couldn’t afford to be sedated. Funny thing is, I’m not scared of the tooth being pulled I’m just scared about the injections! I’m scared of getting an adrenaline rush or of something happening. Plus the numb feeling at first will probably have me feeling a bit scared, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be over it and know it’s okay.

So I need any encouragement and advice for tomorrow. I’m super anxious but I’m trying to tell myself I can do it!

Hey!

Very similar boat to you, my main fear was needles, IVs and sedation.

I just got my 2 horizontally impacted wisdom teeth removed under Local this past Friday. If the pressure and sounds don’t bother you, it’s a breeze.

You shouldn’t barely even feel the pokes for the local anesthetic, they numb it will topical ones first and then there’s a few methods to distract you from the actual poke which work very well (pulsating the cheek).

The numbing feeling can be weird, for me sometimes I can run up to my eyelid and make it hard for me to blink my left eye which feels odd, but I’ve been assured that this is normal in some situations!

Also, I did end up having an IV for the entire thing too, but that wasn’t bad at all.

Good luck! It’s the start to a new freedom.
